Green Screen Tool is a single-purpose web tool: it removes a green or blue screen from a photo and gives you back a transparent PNG. That is all it does, and it does it without an account, without an upload and without a watermark.

Who runs this site

This site is run by one independent maker, not a company — there is no team, no agency and no investor behind it. It is a small utility built to solve one problem well, and it is maintained by the same person who wrote it.

Why it exists

Most online chroma key tools ask you to create an account, push your photo to a server, or stop you at a paywall before the download. This one does the pixel work inside the page you are already looking at, so there is nothing to sign up for and nothing to hand over.

How the tool works

When you pick a file, your browser decodes it and hands the pixels to the page. The page converts every pixel into luma and chroma values, measures the chroma distance to your key colour, and builds the transparency from that distance. Your photo is never sent anywhere; the only copy of it is the one in your own browser's memory. The home page has the full explanation of the maths, as well as the list of file types it can open.

What it does not do

It does not process video, it does not store your files, it has no login and no history, and it does not touch a server to do its work. If a feature is not on the home page, it is not in the tool — the page is written to describe exactly what the tool does and nothing more.

How it is paid for

Right now it is free to use and costs nothing. In the future this site may display third-party advertising to cover hosting and development. If that happens, the privacy page will describe what those ad providers do before it starts.
